This course will enable you to enhance your filmmaking skill and tell stories that make a REAL difference.
At the Fair Earth Foundation we believe a vital skill in life is being able to honestly and impartially tell stories from people, cultures, communities and nature all over the world. Filmmaking is an invaluable skill in all professions, especially in conservation and research. This course will enable you to enhance your filmmaking skill and tell stories that make a REAL difference.
Working with professional film making studios with state of the art equipment, cameras, editing software, green screens, sound studios and more, this course is designed for people wanting to learn film making techniques on the beautiful sunny island of Tenerife. A chance to experience unique locations, wildlife and cultures. Learn from accredited film making professionals and leave with a show reel of shots and a short film. You will also learn the ins and outs of post-production and video editing.
Not only this, but by taking this course you will have a chance to have your films displayed on the Fair Earth Foundation channels and at the London Eco Film Festival (LEFF) a unique chance to join a community of like minded creatives. We will give you the opportunity to create the film of your dreams, around the Fair Earth foundation central theme of Global Citizenship, including films about environmental, social and other global issues that the Fair Earth Foundation is involved in trying to overcome; something we can’t do without YOUR help.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course you will have:
A greater knowledge of DSLR cameras and the exposure triangle
Experience shooting in different locations and environmental conditions
Knowledge of different filming styles – vlogs, short films, documentaries, dramas
An increased knowledge of advanced filming techniques – motion, transitioning, frame rate
Learned about storyboarding and content creation
Experience with professional editing techniques and software
Knowledge of post-production
Your skills reviewed by accredited film makers
Lessons on how to break into the filmmaking industry
Created of a short film
Core goal: To enhance your film making and storytelling skills, creating inspiring and engaging content. We plan for each participant to make at least one film whilst they are with us, you will be assigned a mentor to help them make that film.
The films will be focused on one of the following key areas;
Landscapes
Portraits
Animal
Nature
Whale and Dolphin; you will have the opportunity to go out on the AWdF research vessel 3 times during your course to take footage of one of the 28 species of cetaceans found around the waters of Tenerife.
Sunset and sunrise
Culture
Glamour
El Teide
Astronomy
The film you create will automatically be entered into a competition, if shortlisted, your film will be screened at the LEFF. You will learn pre-production, location scouting, storyboarding, post-production.
Special Courses will run at certain points during the year, with a calendar of ‘special events’ happening on the island e.g. hiking El Teide, Puerto de la Cruz Carnival, etc.
